The society was formed in 1969 to provide a reasonably low priced organisation for anyone interested in ships and shipping, with particular reference to the Solent area.
A monthly newsletter ‘Scanner’ is produced for the members and trips/visits to places of maritime interest are organised. Solent Maritime Meetings take place at 7.30 pm in the Ballroom upstairs at the St Denys Conservative Club, Southampton. Parking is available to the rear of the building
